Kathryn Thomas wears Penneys shamrock nails!!
So I spotted something in the middle page of the Irish Independent's Weekend Review:

I don't know why this is flipping upside down |
Zoom in on Kathryn Thomas' nails here:

Do they look familiar?? |
Well they should- They're the same ones I wore on St. Patrick's Day!
I find it so funny when semi-celebrities like Kathryn Thomas wear such cheap stuff! Is it a sign of how stingy RTE is? Was there really no better nails they could find? There was no one available to do a better manicure? It intrigues me... These nails cost €1.50 for flip's sake!

DIY: Restoring Amy's bar sign!
Amy has a really nice tiki bar thing in her games room and she has it decorated with metal signs and number plates, that kind of thing. One of the signs is getting a bit old and worn which makes it look cool apart from one thing: The writing is wearing away. It's fine if you know what it's meant to say but it can be a bit unnerving if you casually glance at it and see "Shoes! Shirts! Bras! Panties!" ...What?
While we were sitting having drinks yesterday Amy decided to bite the bullet, grab a permanent marker and renew her sign! I thought it was good to restore it now while there was still faint text left for her to copy, otherwise you'd be stuck trying to draw new letters and struggling to do the font right!

I think the ending result was a huge success. The sign looks great and the new text blends in with the old perfectly! I think after a period of time it will look even better.

Irish Preview: Oz the Great and Powerful
My sister scored some tickets to a preview of Oz The Great And Powerful (it's not released in Ireland for nearly another week!). Although it was very early for a Sunday we arrived by 10am to the Odeon at the Point Village. It was my first time attending this particular cinema so I was curious as to what it would be like (it's quite new and fancy!). Oz tells the story of how the Wizard of Oz first came to be king of the Emerald City and also how his actions caused Theadora to become such a wicked witch.
This is me in the Gibson Hotel beforehand, look how glossy and snazzy the tickets were!!

Upon arrival we walked the Yellow Brick Road in the foyer where it had been made to look like Oz with huge posters, trees, plants and even a smoke machine! Here a photographer took our photo. This is myself and my two older sisters.

I really loved the film. I had seen a trailer for it in 3d when I went to see The Hobbit so I was very excited when Amy rang to say she had tickets for it. I thought that Michelle Williams played Glynda so well and looked beautiful throughout (When does she ever not?!). Mila Kunis played Theadora in some lovely tight, leather pants (I thought this was meant to be a kid's movie?!) however I never really grew to like her character. I found her to be quite dopey at the start and her character was never really developed as she became evil throughout the movie (I understand this as the film was written around the character of the wizard).
James Franco gave a good impression of the wizard, I expected him to go through a rite of passage from an illusionist to a full-blown conjurer however this never happened. Throughout the film from start to finish he was a conman and an unlikeably one at that. I suppose this could be a factor as to why critics have slated his performance so much- He played an unexpectedly mean character!

Above you can see me doing my best munchkin impression. I look about 12, right?! Below is one of my favorite pictures of Amy beside a 'Welcome to Oz' signpost :)

We were also given custom 'Oz' 3-d glasses!

There were some token 'celebrities' present of course such as Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh and Cathal Gaffney of Brown Bag Films.
The only disappointment of the morning was the packet of Yorkie Man-size Buttons that Enid bought. We all agreed that the Nestle chocolate just isn't nice when it's not in 'chunks' ala Yorkie bar. And also there wasn't many buttons actually in the packet!

The Six Nations Rugby Starts Today!
I'm so excited, I love international sports! A lot of people say I'm not a real fan if I don't support anyone (Particularly in football) at club level but I disagree- Come on Ireland!
The boys in college set up a fantasy rugby league. Here are the players I chose:
I'm looking forward to seeing Zebo do his stuff today- I've heard a lot about him, I never knew he was Irish though!
I downloaded a new app to go along with watching the game. It's a live challenge, I'm not really sure what's involved yet though! I shall soon find out!
Ooh, it's all about to kick of in the Millenium stadium! COME ON IRELAND!!

Atkins Friendly Snack!
I'm going to Ibiza next week so I've finally decided to try get into bikini shape! Probably too little, too late, but its better than nothing! So, for the next seven days I shall be eating considerably low carb and exercising like a mofo!
I want to share what I had tonight! Jalapeño peppers wrapped in bacon and fried in oil and pepper- Low carbohydrate 'Jalapeño Poppers'! Wow, they tasted so amazing and contained only 3grams of carbohydrate (not sure what the net carbohydrate is).
Really I should have grilled them or baked them but I was feeling lazy. I also used canned, chopped jalapeños. The best thing would to buy fresh jalapeños, they would add more of a crunch to the snack. They would also taste better using American bacon rather than Irish rashers- But where in Dublin can I buy crispy American bacon?!
Basically all I did was place a few chopped jalapeños on one end of a slice of bacon and then rolled the bacon around them. I carefully placed the rolled bacon onto a pan of oil and fried them. The bacon seals itself in that shape and doesn't unravel itself :)
I shall definitely be making these again- And pretty soon I'd say! YUM!

(Taken with my Blackberry, sorry for the awful quality)
