Eddie Rockets: Burger in a Bowl

A few of the nerds and I decided to treat ourselves for lunch last week and we dashed to Eddie Rockets on Wexford Street (Camden Street?) during our hour off. I decided to go for the burger in a bowl for the first time. This item was added to the menu quit long ago, maybe a few years, but I've never been tempted to order it until now. It is meant to be for people on the Atkins diet or other lo-carb diets such as the Dukan diet. It's low carbohydrate because it comes without a bun and all the sauces are served on the side.

I know what you're thinking: If you wanted it to be like a salad, why not just order a salad? Well, the answer is that salads in Eddie Rockets are not part of the €10 combo deal! Only burgers are! So it's expensive to get salads in Eddie's. I'm a scabby student, I have to always be thinking of ways to get what I want for less dollar!!

Some of the benefits of a burger in a bowl:
  1. The portion of 'Eddie's Secret Sauce' served was much larger than normally comes on a burger in a bun. The secret sauce is the best part! Yum!
  2. This menu item is also served with a vinaigrette kind of salad dressing which doesn't come with the burger at all: Free extras!!!
  3. The burger in a bun is so much easier to eat than a burger in a bun. Eddie's burgers are renowned for being messy to eat. There are signs on the ways telling you how to eat them (Leave them in the bag and apply slight pressure to the edges) yet no matter how hard I try it always leaks meaning I lose all the goodies packed into the burger and I'm left with a saucy mess. With a burger I ate it with a knife and fork: No mess and no leakage!
  4. It tastes healthier than a burger in a bun! I know it's actually not but the placebo effect is great and when I'm eating lettuce I feel healthy regardless of whether that lettuce is drowned in calorific, artery-blocking sauces and dressings :) . There was a lot more lettuce served with the burger in a bowl than the burger in a bun.

Combo Deal: €10.50 for fries, soda and a burger in a  bowl.

I will be ordering this again! I still haven't won any vouchers for Eddie's from their instagram competitions. Mr Rockets, if you're reading this here is my instagram, give me free food please: http://instagram.com/p/WuFXueMFxM/

Eddie Rockets Weekly Instagram Competition

Eddie Rockets, the most amazing tasting casual restaurant in Ireland, have recently announced via their Facebook page that they will be holding a weekly competition via the social network Instagram. All you have to do is upload a picture of your Eddie Rockets food and tag it with the hashtag 'Eddie Rockets'.

#EddieRockets

#EddieRockets

Each week they will choose one person who will receive vouchers for Eddie Rockets, Ireland! Unfortunately this could mean that I'd find myself in an Eddie Rocket/Instagram loop: I have to keep going to Eddie Rockets at least once a week so I can enter the vouchers competition once a week!

Super Size!!

I've had this picture on my phone for a while now and kept forgetting to post it. On the right is a 'regular' sized soft drink from Burger King. On the right is and extra large (I don't think they're allowed to call is supersize anymore!). The different is ridiculous! The regular looks tiny!!

I should have also taken a picture of the chips/fries though. There was barely a difference in those- The large portion was actually quite average sized.

Hashtag: NailArt!

It's been so long since I've updated my blog! It's hard to find the time when I've so much college work to do- Procrastination involve aimlessly surfing the web, not having to come up with post ideas and having to think about formulating proper English sentences on here!

As my comeback blog I'm going to be posting about one of my favorite things: Nails! I love having my nails looking pretty, it changes a whole outfit when you've got your nails did. I routinely post my nails on Twitter (and lately on Instagram) but now I'm going to consolidate them into one post! Starting from latest (Because they are the nicest nails and also best quality pictures- My BB died so I got the Samsung Galaxy S3, lol!).

These are the ones I am currently wearing. I like to think that the
little bows are like bowties- They remind me of penguins!

I wore these during the week. I love how each nail has a different pattern.
They were all some sort of pink except for my ring fingers which were
silver leopard print- I like to make a statement and have this finger
different from the others!

I got these cute little ones from Claire's Accessories. At 8euro something they were
a bit more than I usually pay for falsies. I got them free because there was a special on
Hello Kitty items, 3 for the price of 2 (I got a bag for myself and also a bag for my sister).
Thank god they were free because they were the worst quality nails ever. They were
supposedly self-adhesive but the adhesion was so bad I ended up having to use my glue
on them anyway. They didn't go on right, they hovered above my nail rather than adhering
to it and looking natural. They also split and broke extremely easy. I really wouldn't recommend
these nails- Even if they are sugar sweet!

These are cute ones from Pennies. I recommend  applying a coat
of clear nail varnish immediately after you apply these as the colour
can rub off pretty quickly otherwise.

These are also from Pennies. They weren't printed properly, some had edges
where the pattern didn't reach- But I remedied this by filling in the gaps myself
with a permanent marker and then clear varnishing over.

When you run out of enough spare of one pattern you can mix and match and use up all the nails that come in the pack :)

This was one of my attempts at nail art on my natural nails. Not the
best but for someone with as little arty farty talent as me they are unreal!!
I got this effect using sellotape (scotch tape).

I bought these to wear to the Lady Gaga concert I went to in September
however when I opened the box to apply them the box had been tampered
with and contained no glue! I didn't have any at home either so had to go
au natural that night! I exchanged them and wore them at a later point instead.

Can't go wrong with a classic French nail. I love these.

Another attempt at natural nails. Pretty boring if you ask me!

So there you have it! A few months past history of my nails :) I shall post more often from now on!!
